Very cool sound clips made in the moment with my electric and acoustic guitars. Inspired by Rock, Blues and Folk artists that span over the decades. Creating soundtracks in the moment reminds me of Jackson Pollack forming his art. Genres are rock, blues, folk and experimental. Inspired by Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Dylan, Miles Davis and many other contemporaries. Steve Dressler Moments was made with acoustic and electric guitars. A step up from one of my previous albums: Detour On The Rocks released in 2008 on CDbaby with soundtracks only on my electric guitar. Both albums similar in nature have very cool vibes and can be appreciated even more with a good pair of headphones. I have selected 14 tracks mostly instrumental

Steve Dressler Moments is the 2016 album from NYC guitarist and composer Steve Dressler, featuring 14 original instrumental tracks recorded on both acoustic and electric guitar. Spanning rock, blues, folk, and experimental styles, the album was inspired by guitar legends including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Bob Dylan, and Miles Davis. Each track is created spontaneously in the moment — like a Jackson Pollock painting in sound — capturing raw guitar emotion that rewards close listening, especially on headphones. From the soaring Mountain Top to the hypnotic Chant, Steve Dressler Moments is a deeply personal collection of guitar music from one of New York City’s most inventive independent musicians.

Mountain Top

An expansive electric guitar instrumental that evokes the feeling of reaching a summit, with sweeping rock riffs inspired by the classic 60s and 70s guitar heroes. Steve Dressler captures a sense of triumph and wide-open space in this album opener. Best experienced with headphones to catch every nuance in the tone.

Shining Bright In The Night Of Your Mind

One of the most poetic tracks on the album, this atmospheric guitar piece blends folk-inflected acoustic fingerpicking with electric blues undertones. Inspired by the introspective spirit of Bob Dylan and the sonic explorations of Jimi Hendrix, it’s a late-night listening experience. A standout instrumental from this NYC guitarist.

Space

An experimental guitar instrumental that lives up to its name — open, airy, and full of sonic room to breathe. Steve Dressler channels the jazz-influenced side of his playing, drawing on the modal improvisations of Miles Davis. An electric guitar piece that floats between rock and experimental music.

The March

A driving, rhythm-forward guitar track with a bold, purposeful energy — like a rock parade moving through the streets of New York City. The electric guitar work here echoes the powerful riff-driven style of The Who and Jimi Hendrix. A compelling instrumental that showcases Dressler’s command of rock dynamics.

Grasshopper

A nimble, quick-fingered guitar instrumental with a folk and blues feel, like a melody chasing itself through an open field. The acoustic guitar picking on this track reflects Steve Dressler’s folk influences, while the electric touches add a rock edge. A playful and technically impressive piece for guitar enthusiasts.

Spring

A bright, optimistic acoustic guitar instrumental that captures the renewal and energy of the season. Steve Dressler’s folk roots shine through on this track, with fingerpicking that feels spontaneous and alive — true to the album’s ‘made in the moment’ spirit. A beautiful showcase of acoustic guitar from this New York composer.

Highway Cruising

A laid-back electric guitar groove built for open roads, with the kind of easy swagger you’d hear from Carlos Santana or Alvin Lee. This blues-rock instrumental flows effortlessly from chord to chord, making it an instant fan favorite. Perfect background music for a long drive or a relaxed evening listen.

The Calling

A moody, blues-drenched electric guitar piece with a spiritual quality — as if the guitar itself is summoning something. Steve Dressler draws on deep blues traditions while keeping the sound fresh and personal. One of the more emotionally resonant instrumentals on the Moments album.

Blue Magoo

A swinging, blues-rock guitar instrumental with a vintage feel that nods to the classic electric blues of the 1960s. The name itself hints at the deep blues DNA running through this track, with bending strings and expressive phrasing throughout. A true showcase of Steve Dressler’s electric guitar voice.

Spooky

A dark, atmospheric guitar instrumental with an eerie, experimental edge that sets it apart from the rest of the album. Dressler ventures into unsettling sonic territory here, using the electric guitar to create tension and mystery. Fans of experimental rock and avant-garde guitar will find this track particularly compelling.

Picking Up Speed

An energetic electric guitar workout that does exactly what the title promises — starting steady and building into a full-throttle rock instrumental. The track showcases Dressler’s technical chops and his instinct for momentum and dynamics. Inspired by the high-energy rock performances of Cream and The Who.

Passing Through

A reflective, mid-tempo guitar piece that blends acoustic warmth with electric expressiveness — the sound of a musician moving through a moment in time. This folk-tinged rock instrumental has a transient, improvisational quality that makes each listen feel slightly different. A quietly beautiful track from the Moments album.

Chant

A hypnotic, rhythmically repetitive guitar instrumental with a meditative, almost tribal quality. Steve Dressler builds a trance-like groove using both acoustic and electric guitar textures, channeling influences from world music and the exploratory jazz of Miles Davis. A unique and memorable track for fans of experimental guitar music.

Wah/Version2

A wah-pedal showcase that pays direct tribute to Jimi Hendrix, the master of the effect, while putting Steve Dressler’s own NYC stamp on the sound. This electric guitar instrumental is raw, expressive, and funky — a fitting closer to an album full of spontaneous guitar moments. A must-listen for any wah-pedal or Hendrix fan.
